About me
Brittany is a postdoctoral fellow working with Dr. Jacob Westhoff and Dr. Craig Paukert at the University of Missouri School of Natural Resources. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse in 2014 and 2016 with a B.S. in Aquatic Biology and a M.S. in Biology, respectively, and from the University of North Texas in 2021 with a Ph.D. in Biology. She is currently researching the thermal ecology of rare stream fishes, including the Topeka Shiner and Blacknose Shiner, and will be integrating results from lab studies into state efforts to prioritize watershed areas that provide the greatest value for conservation of species on the periphery of their range. Her broader interests include using ecophysiology and functional traits as tools to better understand how aquatic communities are responding to anthropogenic-driven changes in the environment. She is also active in AFS serving as the communications and newsletter chair for the NCD, the communications and outreach chair for the Equal Opportunities Section, and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion chair for the Missouri AFS Chapter.
