About me
Catherine is currently in a joint role with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Iowa Department of Natural Resources to serve as a Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Outreach Specialist. She delivers presentations about CWD mitigation and management to relevant stakeholder groups and serves as a resource for communities across Iowa. Catherine travels across the state to interact with County Conservation Boards, hunters, and landowners in CWD-affected counties to continue educating the public about deer diseases in Iowa. She also runs the Iowa DNR's incentive hunt in Allamakee County, where she will assist the Iowa DNR wildlife staff with the collection of CWD samples during the hunting season.
Prior to her position at ISU, Catherine studied the humam dimensions of chronic wasting disease at Auburn University. Catherine's thesis focused on understanding how hunters and state wildlife agencies respond to detections of chronic wasting disease in their state.
